You may have seen this on a few other blogs, the lovely Brittany of Va-Voom Vintage put up a challenge after hearing some bad mouthing about plus sized girls in vintage. I love her outlook on things, she is probably the most positive person I can think of.
She offered up a challenge to everyone " I ask all of you to pull out a full length mirror, get down to your skivvies and look at yourself today. Look at your curves or lack thereof, look at all of your scars, stretch marks, tan lines, freckles, lumps, bumps, wobbly bits, knobby knees, chicken wings, muffin tops, etc...and embrace yourself. Love yourself for who you are and what you really look like under all of those vintage clothes. Pick out 5 things about yourself that you think are beautiful and post them on your blog, facebook, whatever. Then, pick 5 other people in blogland and post one thing about that person that you love (and really envy them for!)"
Well if you know me personally you know that I am a very negative person, especially when it comes to myself. I don't want to say hate but sometimes I feel like I really do hate myself. I could find a billion things I don't like about myself which is exactly why I decided to take this challenge. It really did take me a long time to find 5 things I like about myself (that I couldn't say but... after) such as I like my hair but..I wish it were naturally dark. So After about a full week I think I've finally found 5 things to like.
1. The shape of my eyes, they're the same as my mothers and grandmothers.
2. My bum..I'm sure you weren't expecting that. Most ladies don't like theirs but I like that mine is perky..if that applies to butts..hehehe.
3. My mega-strong fingernails. I'm glad I have never had to wear the fake kind and I can still wear them long.
4. My unusually small waist, for the weight I'm at I can still fit in to a 27 inch waist. I'm pretty happy about that.
5. This last one was kind of a toss up..it is a "But..." one but I'm actually taking action so It won't be one soon. My strong back.
And here are my 5..it is so hard to narrow it down to 5! ;)
Pictures are links to their blogs..
1. Vivian Von Dimples's Dimples...Could they be any more adorable?!
2. Twila Jean's always perfect hair...seriously, how does she do it?!
3. Julie's authentic vintage style. I envy her ability to wear vintage, live in vintage..she IS vintage.
4. Solanah's look...you know that look she gets.
5. Esme's ability to look adorable and sexy at the same time.
Here is my 5..but I could easily do about 20. I love my vintage friends, they're all wonderful and have amazing outlooks on life. I hope that I can achieve awesomeness like them one day.
