I slack :/

I know I suck lately at posting...really bad actually. I've gotten a twitter account, had a mini battle with another similarly named store via facebook and hit the motherload this week for inventory and I'm considering a .com site. So lets start with the Twitter account....

I'm still learning how to use the darn thing, I don't know how pictures work or really much more than how to post, follow and reply to things. Hints would be a treat..I'm feeling really overwhelmed by having to learn a whole new networking site. But if you've got a twitter account please follow me, I have some things that are twitter exclusive!

The mini battle was between myself and "Bombshell Bettys Vintage" a vintage site that posted up on their wall that I was imitating HER...uh no. Until then I had never even heard of her store and it sent me into a tizzy. I have been selling vintage for 5 years (this year...don't worry I will make an event of it) and I've tried HARD to make a name for myself in the vintage community...I highly doubt that I would copy some random shop on ebay that just happened to have a similar name to my own. Anyway...that just hit my pissy button.

Inventory!!! OMG I found the best pieces (for a steal) at my favorite place to shop for abandoned vintage. I found 1 50's shirtwaist (that I really want to keep for myself...but..you know me) 3 60s cocktail dresses, one minty brocade, one suit set with matching duster and a LBD with rhinestone detail. As well as 3 60's MOD dresses: one early MOD brown cocktail dress, one mini school girl dress in magenta and a pumpkin colored mini with adorable neckline. I saw a few more at the store and if they're still there on my next treasure hunt day I'll snag them. Most of the new items are up in my shop so have a look if you haven't already.

I was going to order some business cards to send with my items when I ship them out so that my buyers get the same experience that others get when they buy from etsy. I recently received an amazing skirt from BomshellShocked on Ebay and the package came all wrapped up with a big red riboon and a business card that had all her info on it.not to mention an adorable picture of her! And I started in making a set of my own and realized I had to put about 10 links on it...well I thought about how much easier it would be if I had just 1 address, a .com to give that then they could go and shop or read my blog or befriend me on facebook from there. So I'm searching through for the best price and hosting. I'm thinking godaddy.com but I've heard you don't actually own your domain so if you wanted to use another service..well you can't...hmm. Not sure if it would be worth it...or if I should just have the card with 10 addresses on it.

I also wanted to post about this adorable handbag. My first custom project from etsy and it did not disappoint. I saw this amazing blue sailboat bag on pete & paul's facebook page
after I used one of their pillows in a treasury and they linked to it on their page. I HAD to have this bag but it had already sold in their store. So I contacted them and asked if they had any more and if I could order one. Well...just my luck they were out of the fabric and couldn't make another one...so I got one of those AH-HA moments and asked how much material they needed because I had a sail boat shirt that I bought on my trip to seattle. She said...sure, no problem.
So I sent her the shirt and she had it made in just a few days, I picked the colors of the fish and WHA-LA
I am so totally in love with this bag. Magenta and Buttery-Gold fish with the amazing vintage sail boat print...LOVE! I am so impressed. I suggest you stop by their shop. The woman I worked with was super sweet and easy to work with. I'm thinking of asking her to make me a clutch out of the leftovers..Oh and its lined in super cute fabric too!The magenta matches my dooney perfectly (I have the first pink one, its magenta leather). I'm so pleased with it! Its the perfect tote for me. They're currently on vacation but I suggest you stop by their shop when they return and check out the super cute stuff they have.

Treasuries Thus Far...

I'm going to include the ones I made last night after midnight (when I get home from work now...boo)
Citrus Summer
Chic Equestrian
Up Up and Away

I've been trying to pick themes that I don't really know that much about, styles I wouldn't normally pick. Such as the equestrian theme...but every now and then I have to break down and do another 50s kitsch ;) hehehe. I think I'll work on either a "Safari" or "Tiki Party" treasury next...but for now I'm going to watch some Pushing Daisies (thanks Vixen Vintage for getting me hooked) and casually browse etsy looking for..you know, whatevs. Maybe some day I'll find a theme that will take me all the way to the front page..*le sigh*

Face Time

No not that stupid thing from the new iPhone 4. I'm talking about face time in front of MY camera for my store. I didn't find really any dresses that fit me while I was in Seattle, people are much smaller over there but I did find this dress and one for myself as well that I am actually going to start the repair for when I finish this post...since I'm just now remembering at the same store. I didn't feel like wearing eye makeup today so I put on my vintage frames instead and tested out a new pink lipstick I got. I don't usually wear pink. I'm always wearing my signature rich red lipstick but hey, pink dress, pink lips. It just works.
Me, being a goof...LOL I really love the neckline of this dress!
YAY I found my shoes!
I always set my camera timer..and then forget I'm not wearing my shoes yet....so here is me finding the shoes right as the camera goes off..
Apparently I think I'm too cool for school.
I loved this shot (even though i've got some major rollage going on in the waist area...thats what I get for not wearing my longline bra!)
really kicking myself for not being good on my diet!
I really like the pink lipstick, its like raspberry so its got a nice red base to it.

here are my shoesies, they're the same ones I wore at my wedding. They're my very favorite shoes ever!
I've got oh-so-irritating wide feet so its practically impossible for me to find vintage shoes (especially heels) so I buy reproductions.

Glasses: Time Bomb (local shop)
Dress: My shop
Shoes: Ebay

Vacation Day Four, Meet up and more thrift

Can you tell I did a lot of thrifting? Here is the post you've (probably) been waiting for. My meet and greet with Solonah of Vixen Vintage it was a little out of the way but I don't often get over to the other side of the state and I really wanted to see her in person since she is always so fab in her pics. I thought oh, I had better dress up because whatever I'm wearing she's going to look like a billion times more fab (and she did, she's so bleeping cute) We pulled in to town and turned a corner after a skinny little thing wearing a vintage skirt, cropped jacket and tall leather boots walked across the street...I told my hubs "I bet that was her" and later I would find that yes, it was.
But she and I were a texting and she was currently on her way to have breakfast with her mommy so we thrifted more while we waited. I found a cute top and skirt set and 2 patterns (one i'll be listing) and I wish I had bought all the patterns because they were on sale for $1 a piece! Still kicking myself for that one.Rosebud skirt and top set I picked up at the Antique Mall

We went to a couple smaller thrift stores as well and were going to head back to the salvation army but then Solonah texted to say she was ready and to meet her at this little coffee shop in town. So I'm there all super nervous thinking "she's probably going to think I'm a loser and a phony and hate me in person..boo hoo hoo" i get myself worked up sometimes. And we got out of the car and her she comes all adorable walking across the street and she gives me that huge way too cute smile of hers and I feel much better. She gave me a little hug and we went inside for some coffee...well she had tea, I had a latte with a foam leaf (that would not go away!) and my hubs had a banana, orange and something else smoothie (no thanks, it was kinda yuckers with my coffee) and of course she was too quick for me and paid for my drinks as well...she is such a shitter!
So we sat down awkwardly on the little chairs and couches they had, me in my jumblelaya dress my crinnie with my favorite red cropped cardigan and my nautical brooch set. (I still think my outfit was missing a butter yellow tie)
before lipstick (I always forget until i'm in the car already)
after, in car with lipstick
my nautical brooches anchor and boat from ebay seagull from Art*Deco*Dame on etsy
My crinnie larger shot of my dress
I remember thinking "OMG SHE'S SO TINY..and YOUNG" and then I started feeling old even though I think I'm only two years older than her. I just feel so old..at 24 I feel like I should be 34 or even 44...I'm married, with a house and a mostly successful business and a "career-like" job. I'm so boring...anyway..
We sat there and made small talk and sipped our respective drinks I got lipstick all over the place on that mug... I got lipstick nearly half way around it before I was done...how I'm not quite sure...
She asked me about my hubs and said I was sweet like a billion times and told me how cute I looked (she must've known I was practically a scared kitten). I don't think I asked her anything, I'm not very good in social situations and I didn't want her to feel like its an interview I'm her friend not a reporter. She did ask me about my regular job, the one where I'm not buying pretty things and enjoying myself..and I told her what most people say about their jobs...it sucks. HA!
She suggested we hit up the big antique store down the street so we finished up our drinks (I finally got that damn foam leaf!) and we headed out to our unclean, practically lived in car and headed down to the store. It was huge, 3 stories lots of shiny cases for me to look through. I took my favorite kind of stalker like pics of Solonah walking around.
Me in "Elvis's" sun glasses
Solanah walking around looking at things
Neat little hat box..and hey there is Solanah again.
Looking at the rack where she picked up the black wool sweater, which I almost picked up..
An amazing lamp that I wanted
cute little picture
orange you glad I didn't buy this shirt...well I kinda liked it.
Here is my tea cup...which matches the set below..I found out I have a lot of sets of one.

Solanah's outfit and the black sweater she bought.
She and I posing outside the mall...she said "sorry I look drunk in your pics" I'm like..well I think I look high so we're even...HA. We're a mess. Here is Solanah's Post for better (aka more embarrassing) pics. :)
She headed out to watch TV...I mean very important things that prevented her from going to a reunion and we went out for more thrifting. I came back to town later that day and picked up things from Urban Eccentric since they didn't open until noon I had some time to kill.
I bought this adorable catalina swimsuit with smocked back
love this kelly green blouse
and this flocked circle skirt dress at a steal of a price! Everything you've seen is up in my Etsy store

Vacation Day Three, More Thrifting

Day three was sunny and gorgeous, the weather was warm. It was the perfect kind of day to go out and do whatevs. So we just tooled around seattle and the surrounding cities. Hitting up the specialty shops and thrift stores. This day was the day I had my first cup of coffee in seattle...if you've ever been to seattle you know that there is literally a coffee shop on every block..and if there isn't a starbucks..there is one of the others, seattle's best, tully's or one of the bazillion cafes. They REALLY like coffee there. And so do I..it was kind of weird for me because I usually drink a pot of coffee to myself every day when I'm at home and it had been 2 days and I hadn't had any yet.
Gorgeous blue sky!
my red and teal mess of an outfit
kev cleaning 4 huge plops of bird poo off the car with my vitamin water
I guess I just wasn't paying attention last time but they have busses on a rail system there...where was I?

Our first stop was going to be Pretty Parlor but they were still closed so we went to the starbucks across the street, grabbed some coffee and headed out to a value village in the area where I found a ton of great stuff and so did kev. I was really excited to try out the other shops in the area where I found more great stuff and we finally made our way back to pretty parlor. They had petticoats hanging from the eves outside (that were all well priced) and when you step inside you're greeted with about a billion adorable dresses handmade and vintage. I wanted to buy quite a few of the handmade dresses but they only came in size small (BOO!) so I didn't buy myself anything. We were soon welcomed by one of the the store cats her name is Petunia..OMG!
She is gorgeous! She has one yellow eye and one blue eye. This is the cat I've always wanted. She is such a character!
awww so lovey!
I bought a couple of things for my shop while I was there. The vintage was kind of expensive for some of the pieces but not more than I would pay if I were shopping for myself but because I was shopping for the store I kept my buying to a minimum.
I bought this adorable pink top (the skirt I got at red light)
and this beehive print skirt! I could NOT pass it up!
They're both already up in my Etsy store

After we left Pretty Parlor we met up with my friend where she works (Cherry Street Coffee House) where I got a tuna salad sandwich and a ginger ale and my hubs tried lamb for the first time in a totally delicious Gyro.
The store had gorgeous trim and details, super high ceilings and a mural
of Michael Jackson?

We went to a few more shops Diva Dollz (on the corner next to the coffee house where they sell reproduction clothing most of the brands from this post and they were supposed to have vintage also but I didn't see any) and were WAY too expensive. You can get better deals online. The girl working was super cute though. All pin-up'd out. I wanted to get this super cute sailor dress but it was like $130 for it and it was pretty simple. Anyway after that we started for Puyallup to thrift there and I found more things at the value village....I seriously love that place!

Vacation Day Two, Thrifting

Well I'm not the biggest drinker and since I went out for beers the night before and I had hardly had anything to eat I woke up feeling super sick, but I think it had more to do with the migraine I got from sleeping on a pillow that was too high and kept my neck at a weird angle all night. So after running to the bathroom about a billion times thinking I was going to puke my guts out I power napped and felt back to 100%.

Well needless to say we got a late start that day but the extra time gave my hubs time to find a Map on My Maps by google of someone's list of thrift, consignment, antique, vintage and camera (random) shops so we started in on that. here is the view from my friend's porch, isn't it gorgeous?!
My outfit, seersucker blazer with anchor and seagull brooches, gray short sleeve sweater and jeans because its chilly.

The first store we tried to go by was closed and the next and the next. Finally we looked and saw the map was last updated 2008 so we decided to hit the thrift stores instead since the big ones usually don't close locations. I'm pretty sure we hit every single thrift shop in town plus the Red Light (if you go to seattle you HAVE to check out the red lights i favor the University district one but the one on capitol hill is fantastic too!), Buffalo Exchange (i didn't find anything at the buffalo exchanges they don't really organize their things and its hard go through so many racks when the store is packed ear to ear) and a couple other specialty shops. We got thoroughly lost a few times but it gave me time to snap some touristy pictures :)space needle and harbor
more gorgeous greenery flowing down the walls
me while we're driving around...I love what the seattle air does to my hair..I think its super cute!
a crazy shaped building that I would not want to go in to.
a bridge...I'm not sure what I thought was so special about it.
When we were done thrifting we were trying to meet back up with my friend to go out but we got lost again and some how ended up down by the water...which was lovely.
We finally met up at her house and went to a fun bar called Shorty's. Its an arcade bar and the tables are made from old pin ball tables. We chose the space man one..woot woot!

My buddy giving me the grouchy face...teehee...I love it.
Here is the tabl...its so flipping cool!
Close up of the space man
me and my buddy! I miss her already!
I remembered to drink water this time so I wasn't sick next day....hehehe.
